Re: What Are You Reading?

I agree. My ex wife read the books before I did, and she was very into reading romance and smut, so I never really gave much credence to her claims that I'd like them. I figured they were just trashy smut stories in a fantasy setting. After reading them, I realized I was very wrong. The sex is there...

Re: What Are You Reading?

The second trilogy was my favorite, but it's possible that's because it's told from a male perspective. I didn't think I was going to like the third trilogy, but I absolutely loved it.

Re: What Are You Reading?

I found the recent Age of Madness series to be a wee bit lacking when compared to his First Law trilogy and the three standalone novels between them. I just didn't care nearly as much about the main characters as I did in the other books. That said, I agree completely about his writing style. That g...

Re: What Are You Reading?

I just finished the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. The first two books were remarkably good. The last was good, but rambled a bit and could have been a wee bit shorter. I really liked that they were fantasy novels told from a first-person perspective, which is pretty rare. Now I'm reading Traditions...

Re: So, what's new?

Bees are regularly shipped through the mail. Unless you get lucky and find a hive that's swarming, or unless -like Talanall- you have your own hive and can catch it when it swarms- there's really no other easy way to get bees if you want to start keeping them yourself. The drones are shipped in cont...

Re: So, what's new?

The cases they send them in are pretty sturdy and they're always held until the last moment before the trailer is shut and sent on its way, so all the bees are together in an area with enough air. As a result, I haven;t seen a container broken open yet. But I hear that did happen the year before las...

Re: So, what's new?

We've been seeing a LOT of bees shipping through our warehouse over the past two months. I'm constantly amazed at how squeamish people can be around them. But even I'll admit that it can sometimes be a bit off putting to open up a shipping trailer and suddenly hear a few hundred thousand bees that a...

Re: So, what's new?

The wife and I are beginning to plan for a Europe trip with my best friend, probably late next year. The historian in me is very excited. The foodie in me is very, VERY excited. Our current thought is to start in Normandy and move through Belgium, into Germany, then the Czech Republic, and finally P...

So, what's new?

Nothing much is happening in our various online games since the forum migration. And we're still busy reformatting and moving content from the old site to the new. But in the interests of keeping in contact and sharing, what's going on in your life? What's new and interesting? For my own part, I'm m...
